Patient Care and all Services Remain Operational At Pembroke Regional Hospital Following Early Morning Fire

14/6/2026

The Pembroke Regional Hospital is reassuring the community that all programs and services remain operational following a fire that took place on one of the hospital’s small inpatient units just after 8 a.m. this morning.

PRH President and CEO Sabine Mersmann who is on site as part of the hospital’s Incident Command Centre, said that the fire was quickly contained and that all patients on the involved unit were safely evacuated, however, due to some water damage, those patients have been temporarily relocated to other clinical units within the hospital.

It is hoped that they will be able to return to the impacted unit by end of day today.

Mrs. Mersmann would like to thank the Pembroke Fire Department and paramedics with the County of Renfrew Paramedic Service for their quick response and support through the incident in addition to all staff and physicians who did an incredible job from the outset of the incident to ensure the safety of all patients.
